About me / Philopsophy
- My teaching philosophy hinges on the belief that all students have the ability to learn and that it ties directly to their unique passion. I do not pretend to know how every single child learns or how they are motivated to do so; what I do believe is that the process of getting to know each students will ultimately unlock the door to their learning. Students are individuals, not numbers or statistics and what is one students every day occurrence , might be another's milestone victory. I have found, and continue to believe, is that most times students do not perform for the sake of performing, they perform well because they know that I have invested in them and that I believe they can. Not all students desire to be great mathematicians one day and that is ok in my book; I simply ask them to respect the value math has and trust the process of critical thinking and the benefits it will have in the long run.
About me / Personal
- Just as students are not solely people sitting in desks, teachers are not just the people standing in the front of the room.
- When I am not preparing and presenting lessons, grading papers, worrying about the kid that seemed down today, or celebrating the kid that "got it" today, I simply enjoy time with my family.
- I am married to a wonderful man (not in education) who supports the Crestdale wildcats through and through
- I have a 2 year old daughter, who keeps me on my toes and makes me laugh every day and I could not be more thankful for her
- I have a sister, brother in law and niece I love dearly, they live near D.C so travel is a must on long weekends or holidays
- I have a corgi/lab mix dog, named Giant, and he is anything but a Giant
- I love sports, particularly cheering on my black and gold in the fall. GO STEELERS!
- Mrs. Irvin is my go to book recommender and I love when she gives me new material. Reading at night is my way of unwinding from the day.
